The splendour and nocturnal entertainment of the 14th night of the Grandes Nuits des Sceaux

Brief

The ensemble La ceinture de Vénus draws its inspiration from the splendour and nocturnal entertainment of the 14th night of the Grandes Nuits des Sceaux, held by and in honour of Louise Bénédicte de Bourbon, better known as the Duchess of Maine, in December 1714: Venus, distraught at having lost the belt that grants her absolute power over men, turns to Apollo to help her find it...

Our ensemble performs the French and German repertoire of the 18th century. It comprises musicians from diverse musical backgrounds, employing instrumental techniques inspired by early music. Above all, it is a gathering of musicians around a priceless musical gem, a symbol of the identity of an entire era.

In 2016, we began a series of collaborations with various artists. For these concerts, we invited the sopranos Monica Prada and Isaline Dupraz, whose voices brought out the beauty of the various compositions we had chosen.

Since 2019, we have had the immense pleasure of collaborating with the soloist Christelle Monney of the Geneva-based ensemble Gli Angeli for our concert series in Geneva.
